Learn more about this

This is what parents have shared with us so far...

What have been the biggest challenges in finding or accessing support?

"Not being taken seriously when I have raised my concerns about my children."

What do you know now that you wish you had known at the start of your journey?

"Building a positive connection with your child will help immensely along the way."

What are your hopes or goals for your child or young person in the next few years?

"That he gets a job and is able to confidently navigate the world. He is too kind and vulnerable for that now."

What support or information would help you achieve these goals?

"Parent groups, more info and support post-16"

What advice would you give to parents or carers of children who have recently been diagnosed or who are starting their SEND journey?

"The beginning of journey is tough but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, trust yourself, trust your instinct and trust your child. All of the children are unique and they are not just statistics/numbers."

✨SEND Jargon‑Buster Page

We’ve launched a clear, kind guide to help you understand common SEND terms and acronyms — with no jargon, no judgement, no assumptions.

We’ll keep adding new words as they appear. If we’ve missed anything, tell us — it helps other families too.
