About us
Built by families, for families.
The Chance Hub grew out of a simple belief: that every parent navigating the SEND system deserves a knowledgeable friend by their side.
The story behind The Chance Hub
Every child deserves a chance.
When my eldest son was diagnosed with autism, I remember hearing so much about the challenges he might face, but very little about the possibilities.
As a single mum at the time, I worried about his future. Would he live independently? Would he find work? What would happen when I wasn't always there to help him?
With both my sons, I knew that getting a diagnosis and accessing support could take time. But while we waited, they were still growing and developing. I didn't want to simply wait. I wanted to know what I could do to help them.
Looking back, what I really needed was quite simple. Someone to talk to who had lived through similar experiences, someone who could encourage me and help me understand how to support my children, and somewhere I could find the information and services we needed.
I wasn't expecting anyone to have all the answers or do everything for me. I just wanted some understanding, encouragement and a little guidance along the way.
Today, both sons have followed very different paths, each with their own challenges, strengths and achievements. Their journeys have taught me the importance of recognising potential, encouraging independence and celebrating every step forward.
I never wanted my sons to have an advantage over anyone else. I simply wanted them to have a chance.
A chance to try, to learn, to be included and to discover what they could achieve. Because before you can make the most of an opportunity, you first need to be given that chance.
And that's how The Chance Hub came to be.
I wanted to create something I would have valued all those years ago. A place where parents and carers could talk to someone who understands, feel encouraged and supported in helping their children, and find useful information about services and opportunities available to them.
These three things are at the heart of everything we do.
We also believe in working alongside other organisations, sharing knowledge and information so that parents and carers feel more informed, confident and empowered.
Our Growing Together programme builds on this belief, encouraging families to recognise and nurture their children's strengths, interests and achievements from an early age, helping them prepare for the future.
We don't have all the answers, but we believe that a listening ear, the right information and a little encouragement can make a real difference.
Because sometimes, all someone needs is the chance to show what they can do.
